18 Mizuno finishes their season and club volleyball career with a Championship title in the 2013 JNVC 18 American Division. A title that was hard fought and almost lost in the semi finals. Until the semis, AJV 18 Mizuno hadn't dropped a set. They went into the semi-finals mentally and physically fatigued, which is only natural on day four of such an intense tournament. The opponent, Tribe 18 Rox, was equally hungry for the gold and took set two (25-22) after AJV's close first set win (27-25), putting the teams in the deciding third set which was a battle until the very end. 18 Mizuno came out with a 16-14 win and a shot at the championship title which was won in two sets against Gold Cal Jrs. Congratulations to our 18 Mizuno players and coaches!
"I couldn't be prouder of the way this group of young women came together as a team for those 4 special days in Dallas to bring home a National Championship. When the club season began in November we discussed this team's ability to do something really special this season and I asked them what legacy they wanted to leave behind with Austin Junior Volleyball. Any team can say they want to reach great heights and win a championships, but talk is cheap. Our team had to learn this difficult lesson over the season. We had our ups and our downs, our good and our bad. But each member of this team made a conscious decision during the season to accept responsibility for their own actions and not let their team's success depend on factors outside of their control. This group pushed themselves harder than any I have had the pleasure to coach in preparation for these USA National Championships and it was a joy to watch the grit, hard work, determination, and heart on display as these athletes ended their prep volleyball careers on the highest of high notes."
